It was 55 degrees in my house when I got home for lunch today. 55 degrees! In my *house*! 55 should be used strictly as an *outside* temperature! Brrrrr...
Jim Rose and his troupe now have a series on the Travel Channel. Wow! Groovy! Thanks to all of my friends and family who phoned me up about it so that I didn't miss it! The first two episodes were shown last night, and it will be on the Travel Channel each Monday at 10pm. As excited as I am to see Jim and the gang getting some much deserved fame and fortune, I couldn't help but feel kind of sad last night. The only freaks in the group now are Jim and Bebe, Lifto, Rubber Boy (formerly the Armenian Rubber Boy), and a champion yo-yo guy. Even when the JR Circus Sideshow was first starting to tour, there seemed to be a lot more people involved. Matt the Tube, the Torture King, and Slug (now Enigma) were early performers who I loved. Later female Sumo wrestling was added along with a couple of other acts. And there were always guys running around helping with props and such who seemed to be in training for something special to be added to the line-up at a later date once their act was perfected. But now it's just the five of them, and only three of them are original Sideshow members. I think the original Torture King has his own show now, and of course Enigma is a big star. Matt the Tube has probably gone back to the pharmacy trade. It's kind of like the family has broken up. Of course I would go to see them if they came through town again, but it would kind of be like going to the family reunion after Aunt Bertha died. It's just not the same anymore.
