Heading home soon and I want to jot some thoughts about my trip before I forget them.
First off, the Conyers are probably the coolest, most gracious family I've met. I have had a wonderful time here, as Bill and Linda are fantastic hosts. The party they threw for Lorena and Timmy was a great amount of fun. The coolest part was when we had everything gathered at the picnic table to make s'mores, but realized that no one had thought to cut any sticks for roasting marshmallows on. So Bill and Jenny trot into the blacksmith barn and stoke up the fire. After a bit of banging about, out they come with a couple of beautiful and incredibly functional wrought iron marshmallow sticks that they had whipped up!
Other high points of the weekend include hanging with Jenny while she made the wedding cakes (again); going to Meijer (silent 'j') with Kathy (twice!) for panties (not for me, obviously), a toothbrush, a collar, and flashing nipple lights; Lorena sweetly toasting *me* at the reception; the Conyers women leading the table in the shark song at breakfast; et al, et al. Great weekend, great people, great booze.
The worst part of the trip was waking up this morning (with just a slight champagne hangover) without my sweetie. I miss him dearly. But I'll see him in a few hours and that will make me so very happy.

So it’s off to the aforementioned lovely South Bend, Indiana today to continue the celebration of the marriage of Lorena and Tim. I know this will be just as much fun as the original reception, and out of town to boot. Lorena and Kathy will be picking me up at the airport and taking me directly to Kathy’s favorite bar in town. Chris told me to have a little bit of extra fun, so I think I’ll do just that by only drinking tequila drinks. Even though ‘I don’t drink tequila.’
And I’ve another wedding to perform in October. That of Chelsea, Chris’ sister, and Miguel. The ceremony will be at ‘The Castle’ near St. Augustine. You know, that one that the guy built out of cinder blocks. And the city tried to get it torn down because people rubber-necking to catch a glimpse of it cause traffic to tangle up at all hours of the day. Whatever. Anyhoo, that will be in October. October 25th. Yes, it’s the weekend of Necronomicon. No, we aren’t going to Necro. My fellow necrophiliacs will be sorely missed. But I’m still going to do that thing to my hair that I’ve been talking about, and I’m still going to get wildly drunk.

I was very happy to hear that there is a Tenacious D movie in the works. It won’t be out until 2204/2005, but I can wait (Especially since a groovy TenD DVD will be released in October). What I realized just today, though, got me all in a quiver: Liam Lynch (of Sifl and Ollie fame) is co-writing and directing the movie! Turns out Liam was involved in a few of the TenD videos, and is with working with Jack Black on the film. I mean, movie.
Speaking of films, I mean, movies, we watched _Vulgar_ last night. We thought it would be cool for the simple reason that it was produced by View Askew, and how could Kevin be wrong, right? Wrong. And not in a right kind of way. Don’t go there. Just don’t.
We made up for it by watching _Free Enterprise_ afterwards. Pretty funny. Lots of good SF references, many of which I’m sure I missed. That one is definitely queue-able.

You must go here and take this quiz. Not only is it cool and fun, but pretty, too! I got 8 out of 10, but Laura will beat that score.

Whew. Now that was a busy past couple of weeks.
C&I got all moved in to our great new house, thanks to the greatest group of friends in the entire world. We couldn’t have done it without them! And while it really is starting to feel like home, many boxes are still packed, and there’s nothing on the walls. We don’t even really have a phone yet, damn Bell South. I called the house from my cell phone once this past weekend to see if we had service yet, and some woman that I don’t know answered. That was kind of surreal.
And Lorena and Timmah’s wedding was this past weekend. What a grand occasion! The festivities began on Wednesday, and didn’t end until Sunday evening. It was a fantastic affair, and the wedding itself was bright, beautiful, and bountiful! We all had a most wonderful time, and the bride and groom were just beaming the whole day(s).
Meeting Tim’s family was a blast in and of itself. They are all very cool, very fun people. At the wedding reception, just as I was really getting to hang out with Tim’s sister Kathy, I was thinking, ‘Gosh, I really like these folks, and I’m never going to get to see them again.’ That made me kind of sad, until a few minutes later I remembered that I’m going to the wedding reception in lovely South Bend, Indiana in a couple of weeks!
And now that things are slowing down for *me*, Chris and Robbie are taking classes until the late hours of the night all this week. But that’s giving me some time to unpack more boxes, do more laundry, so some scrapbooking, and go to karaoke with Kelly. Gotta practice my song. And more than enough time to figure out how to use the DVR on the digital cable – my new favorite toy.
