I need to figure out how to fork salad into my mouth with my *left* hand. That way my right hand will be free to use the mouse, and I'll be able to read all of the sites that I want to in a one hour lunch break.
The weather was *so* nice last night. Off went the a/c and open went the windows. The cats were thrilled to have new smells coming in to the house, and spent most of the evening sitting on the sills, sniffing, ears perked high. C put an extra comforter on the bed for me and I had three cats curled up in it this morning. The radio said that it was 66 degrees, but the bathroom tile felt like it was at 50. Today it won’t be cool enough to even wear a long sleeved shirt, but it might get below 70 again tonight. This is the Florida weather that I love.

Sunday was my&C’s one year meetaversary, so happy wedding anniversary to Charlie&Marcy! In some ways it seems like less than a year since C&I met, and in some ways it seems like much more than that. Regardless, it’s been the happiest year of my life. And I am looking forward to many, many more. Whether he likes it or not. ;-)
On Saturday J&L&C&I went to Grant to see Hayseed Dixie. Great bluegrass band that does AC/DC, Kiss, and other heavy metal covers. You haven’t heard ‘Hell’s Bells’ until you’ve heard it done to a banjo and fiddle. So check them out. And if you haven’t been to Grant, Fl, well, I wouldn’t go out of my way to make it there any time soon. Especially if you need to find a dentist, because I don’t think they have one there.

Are you as paranoid as I am? Or as Richard Belzer is? If so, or even if not, try to check out The Belzer Connection on the SciFi channel sometime. Richard Belzer hosts a great panel of people like Ice T, Janeane Garofalo, Johnny Rotten, and G. Gordon Liddy (He said ‘fuck’ like four times!) as they debate conspiracy theories. A couple of experts are thrown in as well. I believe the only two episodes that have been filmed so far are about the death of Princess Di and the US government’s knowledge of the existence of UFOs. Even if you aren’t into conspiracy, it’s worth it to see the charming Mr. Belzer (He lets me call him ‘Dick’, though.) pace the floor in black and white wingtips, while a huge image of his face looms above him like the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. Gotta love Dick.

And then you need to ask yourself, 'What would *Joe* do?'
There are pictures of my birthday gathering (including my new 'do) here! Thanks Kelly!

I just love my birthday. And this year’s was exceptionally spectacular. Not only did I go blonde for the occasion, but I got to go to the Melting Pot two days in a row. A great group of friends filled my home last night and much beer, wine, cider, and Bettie Page was had. It is truly one’s friends that make birthdays wonderful. Thanks everyone!
Today a happy birthday goes out to a very special 17 year old, and a happy un-birthday goes to a very special woman. I love you both!

There’s a church for sale near my home. The area of yard space next to the street is fully planted with amaryllis and looks simply stunning when they are in bloom in the early spring.
If Chris and I lived in a church, I’d have plenty of room for my BVM collection. Not to mention that it seems that they would leave the marquee sign that sits on the corner of a major intersection. We could post messages that say things like, ‘Lift your devil horns in the sky!’ which is Chris’ favorite quote from Ozzfest this year. The church for sale is right across the street from another church, so I’m sure that would go over well.
We would hold communion on the fifth Sunday of the month, for those months that have such a thing. We’d do it with tequila shots instead of those little glasses of grape juice. Then after the service all the kids could rush to the kitchen to drink down the shots that weren’t used, just like I did when I was a youngster.

Saturday at work. Ick. But sometimes a couple of hours on Saturday saves me *many* hours on Monday. It’s worth it. And there’s no one here to send me grammatically amorphous e-mails about how Word isn’t on his computer any longer and he knows this because the icon isn’t there.

Was that a weekend, or was that a weekend? And it’s not even over yet! Oh, where to begin?…
Wednesday after work Chris and I headed to West Palm Beach to meet Joe and Laura. We stopped by my brother’s place along the way, and met his gal and their new dog. Biggest freaking toads I’ve ever seen in my life there.
Hooked up with J&L at the hotel. We weren’t quite sure we had the correct room until we saw the bendy Ozzy and Sharon in the window, along with this tacky gold cross hanging upside down along side them.
Slept well, then had breakfast at Perkins. Had a drink or two, shoved some booze in our panties, and headed to OZZFEST! Wow. What a day! Voivod fucking rocked; Cradle of Filth is just whacked; Marilyn Manson was much cooler than I expected; Ozzy seems to be getting around a little better than he was last year. Gawd, we had a great time. I was sore for days. I’m too old to rock.
Chris and I headed out of the concert before Ozzy had been on for very long, only to find that Sheena had a flat tire. Not just flat, but pretty badly punctured. Joe, bless his heart, helped Chrises change the tire in the pouring rain, and we all headed back to the hotel to shower. Thanks for letting us go first, Joe. Chris had to be at work Friday morning, so he and I headed back to G’ville on our donut tire.
Got home around 5:30am, slept for a bit, then got Chris off to work. I met him for lunch, then stopped by the dance store that’s going out of business. I got a new pair of clogging shoes for a steal. Not literally, of course. I bought them. Than I spent most of the rest of the day on the couch, since I was feeling a bit, shall we say, dehydrated, and was achy all over.
My work had a BBQ that evening, so we hopped over to that and had a grand time. Jen did a great job of putting everything together, and George (Pres) and Carl (VP) were a barrel of monkeys.
Very early Saturday morning I got a phone call from Katie’s sister, Sarah. Since I don’t talk to her often, I was quite confused as to why she’d be calling me at 1:00 in the morning. Turns out she was in Florida without a place to crash for the night, so she headed to our place from Venice Beach and got in around 5am. We all slept for a few hours, then took Sheena to Town Tire and went to the Deli for breakfast. Brent said, ‘Only three?’, but we didn’t even get to sit in his section. We got a way too friendly waitress, who should have known that we hadn’t had any coffee yet.
We had some more time to kill before the car was ready, so we went to a groovy toy store across the way. Chris got hooked on playing with this remote control car construction kit called Rokenbok. ‘What the hell are you doing,’ I naively asked. ‘That looks stupid,’ as I picked up a remote control. ‘Cool!’ I eventually ended up announcing. Cool enough that we hunted down a starter set in Jacksonville later on this very same weekend. Bought it at Toys R Us for quite a good price. So Eric and Stephanie? Bring the boys over anytime. They’ll love it!
Anyhoo, after we saw Sarah off, C&I headed to Jacksonville. Nothing too exciting on Saturday. Or Sunday, for that matter. But this morning we went to the beach with the kites. It was a great day for flying, and we had a wonderful time. Came ‘home’ to a lunch of ribs and wings, and birthday cake! Chrises mom made me my favorite: chocolate mayonnaise cake with Crisco icing. MMMmmmm…
So my birthday has officially begun! Now you locals will hear nothing but, ‘It’s my birthday!’ for weeks now. For those of you who don’t know, or need a gentle reminder: September 15th.
