Wow! What a weekend!
And a nice, long weekend at that.
Our time in Savannah was just wonderful. Chris's dad seems to know most every bar and restaurant owner in town, and that helps to make for a leisurely visit. On Friday we walked around town some, had a bite to eat, drank a couple of pints, then walked around town some more. We took the haunted pub tour, given by a friend of Dave's, Chris's dad. That was a blast. We'd go from one bar to the next, drinking and walking and laughing. The tour wasn't necessarily scary, but we received access to parts of some of the 200+ year old buildings that most people can only wonder about. Absolutely beautiful buildings, they are, and it was great fun to imagine them full of people in period dress, laughing and cavorting just like we were.
Saturday brought more walking, more food, more drink, and more walking. Savannah is such a beautiful town, I could just walk around and look at the buildings for days. We saw the Mercer House, featured in the movie _Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil_, and we went into a fantastic cathedral. And I didn't even get struck by lightening! Other highlights included buying loose tea at The Tea Room (The Gryphon was closed for the weekend.), these wonderful shrimp jalepeno poppers at the Tapas bar, and seeing more live cats than dead ones.
On the way back to Jacksonville on Saturday we stopped by Seth's in Kingsley, GA. Hadn't seen him since home show, and we got to meet his girlfriend, Katie, and her cat, Jinx. Had some dinner at a so-so Mexican place, and laughed a lot.
Saw _21 Grams_ with J&L last night. Fantastic movie. You should see it. Despite it's title and featured male actors, it's not about drugs. Well, not *entirely* about drugs. Besides, any movie that opens with a shot of Naomi Watt's nipple can't be horrible, now, can it?
In other news, the digital camera should arrive today, so at some point you might expect to see idyllicchick.com updated pretty regularly. Won't that be nice?
