Tee!
Thanks for all of the positive feedback, Ladies! I really, really love this piercing. I'm glad you all helped me choose the labret. At first I thought the ball was far too huge, but now that I've adjusted to it, it feels very natural and sexy. When it's all healed up I'll get some dainty jewelry to put in it (Sailor Cher offered to let me test drive a new kind of rubbery-plasticy jewelry for free.), but I'm fine with the big ole ball until then.
Yes, Daisy, it hurt. But honestly, it was the least painful piercing I've ever had, with the exception of my earlobes, but including my ear cartilage piercings. It was a quick pinch, and it was over. My piercings often throb for a day or two, but I have had only minor discomfort with this so far, and no throbbing. The discomfort was mostly because I was fucking with it too much. So I took a blue pill and all was fine. I've had no noticeable swelling, except for a half and hour or so after that too-much-fucking-with-it time.
I got my tongue pierced about fourteen years ago. Seems the oral piercing aftercare list has changed quite a bit since then. Back then it was absolutely no smoking for a couple of days, no hot liquids for a couple of days, Listerine every once in a while for cleaning. This time I was told that if I smoke, I should rinse my mouth afterwards. Nothing was said about hot liquids (Though the lip doesn't swell nearly as much as the tongue, so that's pretty much a non-issue.), and absolutely no Listerine (It kills the good germs along with the bad.) After scouring the piercing boards for a couple of weeks doing research on the labret, I found that many folks said that I shouldn't drink at all for a couple-few weeks. Um. No. But Sailor Cher didn't say much about drinking. She said to try to keep it low key, and to rinse my mouth afterwards. I can do that. But the kicker is this: No tongue kissing for two weeks! Ack! Maybe that didn't come up when I got my tongue pierced because it was physically impossible for me to tongue kiss for a week afterwards. Especially because my boyfriend got his done at the same time. But geez. Two weeks?
I highly recommend Sailor Cher for any of your piercing needs. She is an Amazon of a woman: Very tall, beautiful boobs, slim, great posture. She wears her salt and pepper hair cropped close, and much of her makeup is tattooed on. She was wearing a very short denim skirt, with red spiked pumps. I felt dumpy next to her. She's like the queen of self-esteem. She's sweet and fun and talkative. She's been piercing for six years, and has a great bedside manner. She talked me through everything, and answered my questions well. I'm very glad that C&I took the time to go to St. Augustine for this experience. I'm looking forward to going again!

you know, i've always wanted to ask someone (with this labret - that makes me feel so cool to say, like i even knew what it was before??!!), does it clink against your teeth, or is it more in the softy tissue beneath your teeth?
you do look great.
what's with all this tongue kissing? didn't you get the married 1+ year memo...that's for holidays and special events only!!
