There's good news, and there's bad news

The good news is: We got a truck! It is sooooo pretty! Bright and shiny and red and big and basic. We love it we love it! We just brought it home last night and we're anxious to haul around some dirt and stuff. It's a 2004 Chevy Silverado with an extended cab. Plenty of room for us and the puppies.

The bad news is: I wrecked it. I rear-ended a (very nice) guy on my way home from work (early, sick) today. No one was hurt, so I just feel stupid as hell.
There's plenty of damage to both vehicles, but it could have been much worse. I was going at least 55 or 60, and he was slowing down to around 30, so I hit him pretty hard. I was lucky that I wasn't in the MR2. I would be squished right now if I had been. Anti-lock brakes rock my world! And my big new truck's bumper certainly did its job well.
I was also lucky that the guy I hit was totally very cool about the whole situation. He even gave me some sweet tea from his jug! Another lucky thing is that the car dealership would not let us leave last night without making sure we had added the truck to our policy. I was anxious to get out of there, and we were on hold with Geico for ages, but I'm so happy that they made us stay and complete the transaction before we left with our vehicle. Our beautiful, new, crunched up vehicle. =(

An emotional rollercoaster of a post. First: "Schweeet! Awesome badass truck!" Next: "Oh shit - oh hell! Oh, no!"

Big hugs - so glad that you're okay and that the other guy was cool. And remember - trucks were made to take a beating. It just makes it look more "don't fuck with me" when you're on the road. ;)

Congrats on the new truck and Oh No!

I'm just glad you were in a big truck rather than a little car. I rear-ended somebody a couple of years ago and I felt SO bad! I hit him so hard he hit the car in front of him!

I'm also glad it wasn't enough of a bang to cause airbag deployment that would be costly and takes a while to repair.

Don't be surprised if you have some bruising from the seatbelt or a bit of stiffness. I was fine when my accident happened, but a day or two later I felt a little funky. I'm right as rain now though :)

You'll probably drive like a grandma for a few weeks!

OH NO! So sorry about your accident. It really sucks when that happens- but so glad that you weren't hurt seriously. Do take it easy the next couple days. Your body may need some rest- particularly if you were sick.

Pretty truck though! Happy truck.

Take care.

Don't feel stupid about the accident. Glad you came out of it okay. If you want to know what's stupid... Backing into a parked vehicle in a shared driveway. Yeah, I did that. Lol.
