Sockowsa!

I love this sock! I finished it on Monday night (Hee!) which makes it a just-over-one-week sock. A record for me! Shows you how much I love it, eh? I'm now obsessd with finished the second one (I started it last night), but I have many other projects to work on this weekend. I love the magic toe up cast on! So easy! Even though I'd usually rather decrease than increase, I don't mind doing the M1s in this at all. I love the Widdershins heel flap! It's like magic because there is no picking up of the stitches along the side of the heel flap. As you work the heel flap back and forth, you just k2tog with a stitch from the gusset.

WVBeth asked what yarn I'm using. It's Great Adirondack's Soxie in the Coconut Joe colorway. Available at our favorite not-so-local yarn store! I lovelovelove this yarn! It spiraled really well for me on my first sock, and I'm hoping I get a spiral in the opposite direction on the second.

Those are so lovely! I can't wait to see them in person (off the needles, that is).
Ah! Now I get it!
The magic toe up cast on I'd linked to previously didn't have it being done on a circular needle. I was trying to keep it snug between two dpns and just feeling very ...er ...inadequate. Must try this now.
And I also can't wait to try the Widdershins heel flap. While short-row toe is okay, using it for the heel is just annoying. I'm so glad I have such experienced socky friends!

I had seen the Widdershins on Knitty before, but hadn't really seen anything spectacular or interesting about it until you talked about the heel flap. That really does sound neat. I must try it. This may become my next pair of socks- particularly since I've been wanting to try out cabling.
Have fun with your second!
